Harry Frank Guggenheim Research Grant consists of research grants to individuals for individual projects from any of the natural and social sciences and the humanities that can increase understanding and amelioration of urgent problems of violence, aggression, and dominance in the modern world.

The Lucille Stoeppler Baker Scholarship is offered to students majoring in historical anthropology.  Undergraduate and graduate students may apply.

 

September

National Academies Christine Mirzayan Science & Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship Program research internships are for rising or current graduate students in social sciences, health sciences, life sciences, physical sciences, engineering, law, and public health.

 

October

The American Political Science Association Minority Fellowship Program is for pursuit of doctoral degrees in political science; African Americans, Asian Pacific Americans, Latinos/as, and Native Americans.

The Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship for Spring Semester is for graduating seniors, recent graduates or current graduate students able to work full-time for 6-9 months; individuals work with nonprofit, public-interest organizations addressing peace and security issues in Washington, DC; especially encouraged to apply are candidates with a strong interest in these issues who have prior experience with public-interest activism or advocacy
(Additional deadline in January)

The Polikoff-Gautreaux Fellowship  is for graduating seniors, recent graduates or current graduate students able to work full-time for 6-9 months; individuals work with nonprofit, public-interest organizations addressing peace and security issues in Washington, DC; especially encouraged to apply are candidates with a strong interest in these issues who have prior experience with public-interest activism or advocacy.

The Truman Scholarship (Interested students must contact the Office of External Fellowships) is for current undergraduate students who demonstrate achievement in leadership, academics and public service who want a career related to public service.

The Maineri Law Firm Higher Education Scholarship offers financial assistance to college students who seek education that goes beyond a four-year undergraduate degree.

November

The Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship is for MBA graduates (and other programs) with work experience and a genuine interest in community and public affairs as well as Germany and Europe.

The American Copy Editors Society Education Fund  is for college juniors or seniors, graduate students and college graduates with a commitment to a career in copy editing; one (1) award of $2,500 and four (4) awards of $1,000 each.

The Dressel/Malikschmitt Social Justice Scholarship is offered to incoming and undergraduate students who have a passion for social change and have experience supporting social justice movements.

The Ford Foundation Fellowships (Interested students must contact the Office of External Fellowships) meant to increase the number of professors who can and will use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students; Alaska Natives (Aleut, Eskimo and other Indigenous People of Alaska); African Americans; Mexican Americans or Chicanos(as); Native American Indians; Native Pacific Islanders (Hawaiian/Polynesian/Micronesian); and Puerto Ricans.

The Harvey Fellows Program provides scholarships to Christian students in various fields at the graduate level.

The National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship  (Interested students must contact the Office of External Fellowships) funding is for graduating college seniors or first-year graduate students pursuing doctoral degrees in physical and life sciences, mathematics, engineering, and social sciences.

The Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) Fellowship is for current, undergraduate juniors or rising seniors interested in exploring careers in public service, international affairs; receive stipend to attend Junior Summer Institute and $5,000 towards graduate degree.

Soros Fellowship (Interested students must contact the Office of External Fellowships) for graduating college seniors or first-year graduate or professional school students who are immigrants or first-generation Americans, funding for graduate or professional study

The National Museum of the American Indian Internship Program is a museum studies, 10-week internship in Maryland, New York City or Washington, DC, for all undergraduate, graduate or recently-graduated students. (Additonal deadlines in February and July)

 

December

The Puffin Foundation Grants  is for emerging artists in the fields of art, film, music, theater, photography, and public interest whose works due to their genre and/or social philosophy might have difficulty being aired.

The Wallace Stegner Fellowship | Stanford Creative Writing Program offers 10, two-year fellowships -- five in fiction, five in poetry; writers are considered artists intent on honing their craft; tuition, health insurance, and $26,000 living stipend per year

 

January

March

The Anna Sobol Levy Foundation Fellowship  is for graduating seniors, recent graduates and current graduate students; U.S. citizens under the age of 30; have studied military studies, economic geography, international relations, political science or history; interested in career goals in the armed services, diplomatic corps, international relations, or government or public service; for one year of study at the Rothberg International School of Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel.

The Brown and Caldwell scholarships offer funding opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds interested in Environmental studies.  

The James Madison Scholarship (Interested students must contact the Office of External Fellowships) is for graduating seniors in college or current teaching professionals planning to obtain their master's degree in social science or history education..

The Phi Alpha Theta Undergraduate Student Scholarship  is for students inducted into PAT, entering the fall of their senior year in college majoring in modern European history, 1815 to the present; one award of $1,000.

The Radio Television Digital News Association Scholarship Program applicants must have sophomore standing or higher; be a full-time, enrolled undergraduate or graduate student pursuing any major, and have the intent to pursue a career in electronic journalism; may only apply for one scholarship at a time

 

April

American Addiction Centers (AAC) is offering three scholarships for those who are interested in behavioral health and addiction-related studies. The scholarship is open to full or part-time college undergraduate or graduate students.

The JW Saxe Prize award for undergraduate or graduate students for supplemental funding in taking a low-pay or no-pay public service internship or position.

The Society for the Study of Social Problems’ Beth B. Hess Memorial Scholarship is offered to advanced sociology Ph.D. students who studied at a U.S. two-year college for at least one year during their collegiate journey.

The Student Development Committee of the Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology hopes to award undergraduate and graduate students for their achievements and research in the child and adolescent psychology field.

 

May

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Greater Research Opportunities (GRO) Undergraduate Fellowships are for undergraduate sophomores pursuing environmental studies (can be from a variety of different fields); receive support for junior and senior years, as well as a summer internship with EPA between junior and senior year; up to $17,000 per year and $7,500 in internship support.

The Leroy F. Aarons Scholarship | National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association  for high school seniors, undergraduates and recent graduates accepted at graduate school; planning to pursue a career in journalism, be able to demonstrate their passion and commitment to the profession and be a current NLGJA member or Student Member; the award provides up to $5,000 in tuition funding

 

June
The Houtan Scholarship funding for graduate school based on the interest in and study of the Persian and Iranian culture, language and civilization; could include traveling during study.

TypologyCentral.Com is offering an opportunity to win a scholarship for undergraduate and graduate students. This scholarship was created to help provide educational opportunities for individuals interested in the study of personality type theory and practical application of those systems. The scholarship will be issued for the fall quarter, semester, or trimester.

 

July

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency STAR Fellowships for Graduate Environmental Study supports master's and doctoral students in environmental studies; students can pursue degrees in traditionally recognized environmental disciplines as well as other fields such as social anthropology, urban and regional planning, and decision sciences; up to $37,000 per year in support.

The Manatt Fellowship  is for conducting research in democracy-building; U.S. or international graduate students pursuing degrees in international relations, political science, public administration or other related areas; graduate institution must be in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, or Wisconsin.

The Women in Defense HORIZONS Scholarship is for female undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of fields, ultimately interested in a career related to defense and national security.

 

Variable Deadline

The American Political Science Association Congressional Fellowship  is a searchable database for grants, fellowships and other resources for students in the political science discipline; undergraduate, graduate and doctoral-level funding.

The American Anthropological Association Resources for Undergraduate Students is a list of awards, internships and competitions for undergraduate students studying anthropology.

The Fund.org  scholarship is for theological education, African-American PhD and ThD students, minorities pursuing PhD's related to racial identity/racial issues.

JFK Presidential Library Summer Internships undergraduate and graduate students majoring in history, government, archival administration, library science, English, journalism, communications and other related disciplines.

National Geographic Young Explorers Grants  funds for projects in research, conservation or exploration.

Pilot International Foundation Scholarships are for students interested in working with people with disabilities, brain disorders.

The Pilot International Becky Burrows Memorial Scholarship is for graduate or undergraduate students preparing for a second career, re-entering the job market or obtaining additional training in their current field; their career path must pertain to assisting those with brain-related disorders or brain-related disabilities.

The PolitiCorps for college juniors, seniors and recent graduates; 10-week political organizing and leadership development workshop for those working for the greater public good.

Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Foundation Scholarships are multiple named awards for students pursuing communications, public relations and/or journalism; *please note: many require membership in the PRSSA, the student arm of the society*

The Social Science Research Council Grants and Fellowships Database awards for research in the social sciences, arts and humanities.

Washington Center Internships  are for various fields, all majors, college upper-classmen and graduate students, positions for fall, spring and summer in Washington, DC, and abroad.

The East-West Center Graduate Degree Fellowship  provides Master's and Doctoral funding for graduate students from Asia, the Pacific, and the U.S. to participate in educational and research programs at the East-West Center while pursuing graduate study at the University of Hawai‘i; areas of international study including politics, governance and security, economics, environmental change, population and health, education and Pacific islands development.
